Christ Centered - Child Focused - Family Connecting
Zion Lutheran Preschool provides the environment and experiences a preschooler needs to develop emotionally, physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually. To accomplish this we seek to foster a Jesus-centered atmosphere where love and learning thrive and where joy and faith flourish. We happily offer programs for three year olds and four-year olds. Three year old programs meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. The four year old program meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:30-3:30 p.m.
Zion Lutheran Preschool is pleased to introduce its new director Michele Acklin and Assistant Ashley Hinners. Michele grew up on a farm in Coon Rapids, where at an early age, faith, family, and a strong farm work ethic along with honesty and integrity were instilled upon her and her four siblings from their parents Butch and Bonnie Schroeder. She realized early on that God gifted her to LOVE and care for children. She became a foster mom to 15 children over 5 years who needed love, care and nurturing. She has three wonderful children Sheri & Ben Danner of Templeton, Joe & Liz Stitz of Coon Rapids, and Amanda & Michael Crouse of Red Oak and six grandchildren. Her childcare and preschool experience started in 1985 and has continued through the years: Group Child Development, Registered and Licensed Centers in Halbur, Carroll, Forest City, Goldfield, Belmond and Coon Rapids. You may have heard of Taylor Made Academy or M Squared Academy- Where learning and fun go hand in hand was their motto. In her spare time, you might find her cuddling one of my six grandchildren, paying it forward, spending time with family and friends, riding her Harley, kayaking, fishing, boating, camping, hunting, on a walk OR enjoying a nice campfire by her off grid cabin by the river near Coon Rapids. After losing her brother Tony Acklin to melanoma in 2006, she has carried Tony's motto and is a Soul on Fire living "Today Not Tomorrow"!
Ashley Hinners is wife of Joe, and mom to Amelia, Juniper, and Abel. As a family, they enjoy going to her grandparents’ cabin in Lake View, traveling (usually to Colorado), and adventuring around their farm. Her personal hobbies include photography, looking for wildlife on their road trips, and planning birthday parties and other fun events. Ashley graduated from grade school in Manning and received a Bachelor’s degree in teaching from the University of Northern Iowa. After college, she spent 9 years teaching special education, from Kindergartners to seniors in high school. Teaching and helping Littles grow is a passion of hers, and she can’t wait to share it with our small community.
